5 Fun, Useful and Free iPhone Drinking Apps

Posted in Featured, Products, Software by Coty | Tags: , , ,

I’m an iPhone kind of guy and luckily for me there’s no shortage of drinking apps for my mobile hardware of choice. Here are 5 drink apps that I found to be quite useful. They range from cocktail helpers to wine pairing guides. There’s even an app for coffee lovers!

I decided to focus mainly on free drinking apps for this review roundup. For the next round, we’ll take a look at some of the premium paid apps. Do you use any of these apps?

1. 5,800 Drink & Cocktail Recipes by Webworks and Applications

This app by Webworks and Applications is a straight up drink and cocktail database. Lovely. You can browse the library by view all drinks or thumbing through different categories of drinks or by ingredients. And if you are feeling a little risque then the Random Drink option is for you.

This app might be overwhelming for some but if you want to know what you’re drinking before some random dude orders it for you at some random bar then this huge database of drinks can help you do just that.

2. Girl Drinks by Treeline Interactive

Sometime you just need a little fruitiness to have a good time. Sometimes, fruity drinks just go along with the company. Either way, if you want to find the perfect fruity drink then Girl Drinks is just up your alley!

Although they’ve got the word Girl as part of the app name, this app could easily be just as useful for men. Think of it this way, men typically love beer and know nothing about girly drinks (note I said typically because this is not always true). For these men, this app is a godsend! Now you don’t have to twiddle you fingers wondering what to get your female companion.

3. Hello Vino – Wine Pairing Guide by Drive Thru Interactive

I’ll admit, I know next to nothing about wine. There, I said it! But that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it (and I do). It’s just that I never know what to drink with what. That problem is solved (sort of) with the help of Hello Vino – Wine Pairing app from Drive Thru Interactive.

The app itself is unbelievably easy to use. Just tell the app what you’re eating and it pumps out a wine suggestion tailored just for you. Nice! And if you’ve had that particular drink it has the ability to give you more suggestions.

Not only can you pair wine with your meal but you can also pair things like occasion or browse by taste/style, and even country/region.

4. Drink and Cocktails by Genetic Mistakes

This is another recipe app but instead of featuring 1000’s they feature a few hand picked selections, the popular stuff. You can view full recipes and then save them to your favorites for later. You can also tell Drink and Cocktails what items you have available in your bar and it will customize results based on what you can actually make.

5. Expresso Coffee Drinks by Jive Media LLC

This app is simple and features a very easy to use interface. I love it. Especially since I typically order expresso drinks blindly. The sole function of this app is to tell you exactly what is in that fancy expresso drink that you ordered. Expresso macchiato anyone? This app is wonderfully graphical.

  • Thanks for the mention! We’re stoked that you find Hello Vino useful and easy to use.

We created the app for people who need some help when standing in the wine store and staring at all those bottles of wine. Glad to hear we could help you find something to have with your dinner, or to take to your next party.

    Cheers!

  • No problem! I’m very happy with the Hello Vino application because it’s so useful for a wine newbie like me!
