Nasty New York City Anti-Soda Ad Campaign
Posted in Misc., Soda by Coty | Tags: Coke, Cola, New York, NYC, Pop, SodaLet’s be honest, soda tastes good but it surely isn’t good for you. The empty calories lead to unwanted fat and no one wants that. And now it looks like the New York City Department of Health is taking it upon themselves to combat the fizzy calorie booster. The NYC DOH recently started a print and TV ad campaign that shows the nasty side of soda -- the side that cause you to gain unwanted pounds. The TV ad is especially disgusting as it shows a man sipping on what seemingly looks like lard. Next time you think of sipping down an ice cold coke, think of these ads.
You can learn more about the ad campaign at the official NYC Department of Health website.
What do you think, would these ads deter you from drinking soda?
Hudson Manhattan Rye Whiskey
Posted in Alcohol, Spirits by Coty | Tags: Manhattan, New York, ProhibitionThe unique packaging for this bottle of whiskey makes it look as if it is coming to you straight from the period of prohibition. This whiskey is pot distilled from rye grain and features 46% alcohol. Live in New York? Do me a favor and visit Tuthilltown Spirits and ship me a bottle.
“Until Prohibition New York was known for its rye whiskey. This feisty spirit was the basis for the legendary Manhattan cocktail, made famous by Jenny Churchill (Winston’s Mum). Rye had not been produced in New York for over 80 years, but Tuthilltown Spirits’ Hudson Manhattan Rye Whiskey signals the return of the quintessential New York Whiskey. Our rye is made from whole grain rye one batch at a time. It is not the blended rye whiskey your parents used to mix with soda. This is honest rye whiskey. Hudson Manhattan Rye Whiskey is bottled at 92 proof. It is fruity, floral and smooth, with a recognizable rye edge that leaves no doubt the origin of the spirit. Each bottle is hand filled, capped, waxed and numbered. Enjoy the return of this classic American spirit.”
Fred. He’s Water.
Posted in Featured, Misc., Water by Coty | Tags: Fred, H2O, New York, NYC, WaterMy dad’s first name is Fred, which makes this fine piece of bottled water a little bit weird for me. Fred (the water) comes from Alpine Spring, located in Livingston Manor, New York. According to Fine Waters, the top purveyors of water in the world (or ate least in InternetLAND), Fred has is “super low in total dissolved solids (TDS) and has a superior rating for nitrates” which gives Fred a smooth characteristic.
If there was a Don Juan equivalent of the water world, Fred would be it.
Buy Fred from Love Fred for $30 Per Case (20 Bottles Per Case).
Thanks to Ade from Milk & Eggs Co. for the Tip.
Brooklyn Fare Cups
Posted in Featured, Packaging, Products by Coty | Tags: Brooklyn, Brooklyn Fare, Cardboard, Coffee, Cups, Mugs, New York, StoreSo these disposable cups have been making the blog rounds and I thought they were definitely worth a mention here at Call Me Thirsty. I absolutely adore these. They make me want to fly from Hawaii to Brooklyn just so I could order a drink from Brooklyn Fare in one of these splendid cups.
“We started Brooklyn Fare with three simple things in mind:
Good foods at great prices offered up with outstanding service.
Our goal is to be a centerpiece of the Brooklyn community. A place to hangout with the Sunday paper, a cappuccino and a freshly baked croissant. A place to learn clever cooking techniques from some of New York’s best chefs. A place you and your family will come back to again and again for gourmet groceries, delicious prepared meals and more.
We offer the sort of service that’ll make you smile, which will make us smile. Which will probably make you smile even more. It’s a vicious cycle.
We are on the corner of Hoyt and Schermerhorn, just across the street from an A,C,G stop and just a short walk from Cobble Hill, Park Slope, Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights. So no matter what corner you live on, we hope you’ll visit ours.”
